Summary: It's 1966 in Hell's Kitchen, New York, and four juvenile hoods--Shakes, Michael, Tommy and John--accidentally kill someone when they push a hot dog cart down a flight of stairs at the subway station. For punishment, they are sent off to reform school, where they suffer repeated rapes and torture by prison guards. In 1981, Tommy and John get arrested for killing the most evil guard, Nokes, who they find sitting in a bar. With Michael, now an assitant D.A., and Shakes, a journalist, the men plan a scheme in which Michael is the prosecutor of their case while Shakes gets them the worst lawyer he can find. The plan also involves the local priest lying under oath to bolster Tommy and John's position.
